It was a Monday on June 26, 2006 that the Citrus Heights Police Department became a singular entity and law enforcement agency for its city.
Since then the department has worked to provide a number of services for its city, including hiring and training employees, installing state-of-the-art equipment, building a 9-1-1 dispatch/communications center and equipping the cars and motorcycles.
The department has introduced its domestic violence intervention program for which the department was honored by receiving the James Q Wilson Community Policing award in 2012. The department has also introduced a community-oriented problem-solving approach for its Problem Oriented Policing (POP) program that looks to target "quality of life" issues for its citizens.
