HistoryIn 1986 I bought the existing portrait studio in down town Taft, CA, which my mom had to run for two weeks while I gave notice to the color lab I worked for at that time. Mom hired my first employee and sold a camera before I even stepped into the business! Everything I learned from Kindergarten on I used everyday those first many years and it was the best feeling in the world, to be satisfied and exhausted in a good way. My husband came into the shop to meet me two years later and since then we have been inseparable. We expanded to include custom picture framing and more gifts beyond picture frames. We wanted to involve all of the senses and added candles and oils, chocolates, and music CDs of Blue Grass and old time mountain music. It was such fun! I still did restoration work by hand, and portrait negative and print retouching by hand! This was way before digital and it was labor and skill intensive.
