Vahan and Anoush Chamlian Armenian School is located in a quiet neighborhood in La Crescenta. The school offers an academic curriculumn in line with California standards, while also providing classes in Armenian language and culture. Art, music and P.E. are also offered.
Teachers hail from near and far. Some have grown up in the area and attended the California School System, while others are from Iran, Beirut, Armenia and other countries. Vazken Madenlian is the principal.
Many extracurricular activities center around Armenian culture, such as participation in the Armenian Genocide Walkathon, the Armenian History Timeline competition, Armenian General Knowledge competition, and an 8th grade class trip to Armenia.
Two after-school athletics programs are offered. One requires students to try out, and accepted team members compete in the Kaham games against other Armenian schools. The other is an intramural program open to all grades where no tryouts are required.
An entrance exam is required for new students entering the school in 3rd through 8th grade.
