The Casanova Restaurant in Carmel, Calif., is a family-owned, European- style restaurant. The restaurant, at Fifth Street between San Carlos and Mission in downtown Carmel, is in a remodeled and expanded older home. It features a choice of several unique rooms for inside dining and outdoor accommodations. Casanova is known by some as Carmel's most romantic restaurant. For lunch, it offers meals such as warm duck with lentils; charbroiled lamb tenderloins; home pasta; and fresh mussels with shallots. Casanova s dinner menu features meals, such as pasta with roasted tomato coulis and goat cheese pesto sauce; pan roasted fillet of wild Pacific salmon; and saut ed medallion of veal. Its desserts include warm chocolate cake with Armagnac ice cream; chocolate custard pie; and cr me Brulee. Casanova's wine cellar was hand dug 14 feet under the restaurant in 1987 and includes about 30,000 bottles of local and international wines.
