Carmelita's was started by Alberto Heredia and his wife, Carmen Heredia, in 1962 and has since expanded to two restaurants, this location being the second. The restaurant is now owned by the Heredias' son, Clemente, and his wife, Rosalba. The Fair Oaks location is unique because it offers a full bar and outdoor patio. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in vivid colors, featuring sheet metal animals and people, paintings, hanging flags, flowers and mosaics. Carmelita's provides authentic Mexican cuisine. Specialities include Shrimp Enchiladas and Mole Poblano. Breakfast items are served all day and the restaurant serves brunch on Sundays.
