California State Prison, Corcoran, also known as CSP-Corcoran, provides a range of medical, mental health, educational and vocational programs for inmates. It operates administrative segregation, security housing and protective housing units. The prison also maintains an acute care hospital. Founded in 1988, California State Prison, Corcoran covers an area of more than 940 acres. It has a staff of over 2,300 individuals and offers the Youth Diversion program. The prison also provides literacy and adult basic education programs. California State Prison, Corcoran offers sheet metal, welding and landscaping programs. In addition, it houses nearly 5,700 inmates. The prison conducts academic classes. California State Prison, Corcoran is a part of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
