The California Mid-State Fair, celebrating more than 60 years, runs from late July to early August every year. The fairgrounds are located in Paso Robles, n the Central Valley region, between the cities of Fresno and Monterrey, Calif. Fair events include Cattlemen and Farmers Day, Kids Day, Arts and Entertainment Day and Great Escape Day. There are 4 H events and competitions. And as California is a major wine-growing state, there is a wine industry competition, with wine tasting and sales. Amusement rides and carnival games are available on the midway. The entertainment has featured musical artists like Air Supply, Berlin, Michael McDonald, Jan and Dean and Gary Lewis and the Playboys. The crowning of the Miss California Mid-State Fair takes place in a pageant each year at the Fair. The fairgrounds are in use all year round, holding a high school rodeo, antique road show, kennel club and cooking school are just some of the uses. The facility offers covered and open arenas for horse and livestock shows, complete meeting rooms with kitchen setup for weddings, company parties and dances as well as beautifully landscaped grounds which are host to RV gatherings, motorcycle and car shows.
