Prado Conservation Camp #28, jointly operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), is located in Chino, CA. The camp's primary mission is to provide incarcerated fire crews for fire suppression primarily in San Bernardino County, but they also respond to emergencies throughout the state. In addition to fire suppression, camp participants engage in community service and conservation projects year-round. Established in 1963, Prado Conservation Camp is centrally located for immediate response to five different counties, with crews capable of responding anywhere in the state.
