Bruce King Memorial Park is a new addition to El Cerrito. It is dedicated to Bruce King, the city's maintenance/engineering services manager who passed away exactly a year before the park was opened. The grand opening for the park was a big event held on April 17th, 2010. The park is located in the flats of El Cerrito, near Potrero Avenue. Safeway and Abbey Pet Hospital are listed among the businesses and organizations who have helped fund this new park. When you first enter the fenced-in park there is an enclosure with benches and receptacle for doggie poop that seperates the large dog area from the small dog area. Tennis balls, donated by the El Cerrito Tennis Club, are available for dogs to play with. The park is shaded by tall trees.
