Led by Senior Pastor Sun-Hee Kim, Walnut Avenue United Methodist Church is a unique Christian congregation of individuals around Contra Costa County. With a strong love of community, diversity and spirituality, Walnut Avenue UMC welcomes all people regardless of age, race, sexual orientation or faith. The church's campus is singular in design, containing features such as an outdoor meditation labyrinth, a church garden where plants from the Bible are grown and a community garden area where plot renters grow fruits, vegetables and flowers. Walnut Avenue UMC hosts a variety of different programs and events, including Stephen Ministries support groups, a Dorcas Circle and the second Saturday of the Month Concert Series. The church actively supports the local and international communities by getting involved in the Solano and Hillcrest food banks and by working with charities, such as the Heifer Project.
