Janet Card Graetz founded Belmont Oaks Academy and Merry Moppet Preschool in 1948 as a small cooperative nursery school in Belmont, Calif. It began with only 10 students and has grown to a current enrollment of 360. The academy has a swimming pool that is operational from June through August providing private swimming lessons and recreational swimming for its students. Professional Association for Childhood Education accredits merry Moppet Preschool. Belmont Oaks Academy is also accredited and a member of the National Independent and Private Schools Association.
