Bancroft Elementary School is part of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and serves approximately 500 kindergarten through fifth grade students. As the home of the Bobcats, the school's programs include a highly acclaimed music program, a slate of after-school enrichment classes, a gifted and talented program, a weekly homework club, and a student council-run recycling program.
Built in 1968, the school consists of four air-conditioned pods that house classrooms, a library, a technology lab, rooms for instrumental music programs, five newer classrooms, a plaza, outdoor tables, and the student-created Bobcat Mascot mural. New play structures and play surfaces were installed in 2004 on the main and kindergarten yards, and the students help maintain a large school garden.
The school's principal is Linda Schuler.
