The Azusa Police Department provides law enforcement and emergency response services to the City of Azusa in Azusa, Calif. Established in 1889, the Azusa Police Department has organized the city into three service areas, with one lieutenant assigned to each area. Service area policing is designed to provide increased police accountability, reduced crime, increased access to the city government and improved neighborhood quality of life. The department is also active in community policing programs, such as neighborhood watch groups, which empowers the community to fight crime more efficiently. Azusa is located in Los Angeles County in Southern California and has a population of more than 44,000 residents.
