The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is one of the largest providers of contract law enforcement services in the world. It provides a variety of specialized services, such as international liaison and employee support. The department is divided into various divisions that are headed by a division chief. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department operates several patrol, custody operations, correctional, detective, court services, administrative, technical services, and leadership and training divisions. It also maintains the Office of Homeland Security, which responds to critically injured individuals, initiates rescue operations, establishes crime scene perimeters, and develops logistical supply and communication lines.
