History
Art in Action, a nonprofit organization, was founded in response to a lack of art lessons taught in classrooms and the decimation of school budgets allocated to providing an arts education. What started with one classroom in 1982 has grown to reach more than 75,000 students in over 300 schools nationwide.

Art in Action's (AiA) mission is to empower students through arts education. AiA is a nonprofit that provides diverse visual arts curriculum, materials, and training for schools, school districts and after-school organizations. Our lessons develop critical thinking and creativity through hands-on-learning. Founded 35-years-ago, AiA provides lessons that that teaches students about S.T.E.A.M, cultural understanding, social justice, healing through art, art appreciation and technique. AiA empowers students to develop creativity, critical thinking, and complex problem solving, through hands-on learning with art. Art in Action lessons are fun, engaging and easy to teach by parents and teachers. Complete art materials can be purchased for each grade-level program. Online training makes it possible for Art in Action to be taught in schools nationwide. Art in Action has a 98% parent and student satisfaction rate.
