History
The Applegate Civic Center was once a one-room country school called Eureka which burned in September 1926. A new school was built and dedicated in February 1928 and renamed Applegate School. Classes held were grades one through five and closed about 1950 or 1951. The Applegate Civic Center Club was formed in 1949 and with the help of the community was able to raise $3,000 for the purchase of the building and grounds from Placer Hills School District in 1957. The club has owned the property ever since.
