APLA (AIDS Project Los Angeles) is an organization committed to causes related to HIV. Its goals include improving the lives of those affected by HIV, reducing HIV infections and promoting public policy related to the disease. APLA provides such services as public benefits, transportation, information, referrals, education, dental care, home health, mental health, prevention, peer support, publications, research and residential services. For more than two decades, the organization has been fundraising and growing its programs to adapt to the needs of the Los Angeles HIV/AIDS affected community. Fundraising programs include AIDS Walk Los Angeles, National AIDS Marathon Training Program, Art Project Los Angeles and Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event. Many other opportunities are also available to volunteer or donate to APLA. This is one of the organization's newest offices in the Los Angeles area, opened in 2010.
