Lompoc Parks & Recreation Department, established in 1945, operates recreational centers and manages parks and forest reserves throughout California. The department conducts special programs and events, including adventure trips, campfires, fishing, and cooking activities, and provides a variety of recreational and educational activities to tourists and visitors. Its urban forestry division plants and maintains more than 18,000 species of tress, including oak, sycamore, maple, beech, basswood, buckeye, willow, hickory, cottonwood, dogwood, persimmon, walnut, cherry, and tulip poplar. The department owns and operates more than 15 state parks, and offers amenities that include golf courses, and boarding, lodging, and dining facilities. Lompoc Parks & Recreation Department is administered by the city of Lompoc, Calif.
