This fire station is located in the mountaineous area of Los Gatos and used to be known as the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The station is located in the Santa Cruz County Fire District and is one of 228 stations run by the department. Its mission is to respond to wilderness and structural fires, automobile accidents, medical aids, water rescues, civil disturbances, lost hikers, hazardous material spills, train accidents, floods, earthquakes and terrorist attacks. The station has living headquarters for its firefighters and houses firefighting apparatus such as a fire engine and a 2,200-gallon water tender.
