History
Alhiser-Comer Mortuary is a part of Escondido History as the city's oldest continually operating business. It is proud to be family owned and operated. In 1989, the Comer family purchased the mortuary. In 2013, Megan Comer took over the mortuary from her father, Stuart who retired. Megan is a third-generation funeral director. In 2017, Megan, her sister Nicole and the staff at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary were honored to receive the Chamber of Commerce Award for Family Owned Business of the Year, along with local and congressional recognition. Megan has renovated the mortuary, including adding a reception room to better serve families and bringing the building up to date while keeping its integrity. The Comer sisters are honored to continue their father and grandfather's legacy and commitment to the community of Escondido.
