Albany City Hall was dedicated in 1966, and houses many city services, from planning and zoning to the Finance Department and a passport desk. The Fire Department and Police Department are located in the same campus. The building was recently renovated to comply with many green building regulations and possesses a solar water system, photovoltaic cells on the roof and sustainable landscaping.
The City Council usually meets on the first and third Mondays of each month, alongside meetings from the commissions on Planning & Zoning, and Traffic & Safety. All take place in the comfortable, well-lit meeting room.
The city participates in Alameda County's 211 system, a free, non-emergency, confidential, 3-digit phone number and service that provides easy access to housing information and critical health and human services.
