Completed in 2006, the Alameda Free Library on the corner of Oak Street and Lincoln Avenue is a thoroughly modern, well-lit and full-service library. With wireless Internet access throughout, separate children's, teen's and adult sections, multiple reading and community meeting rooms, as well as a full line-up of literacy and cultural events, Alameda's main library is truly a community center. On the ground floor, Dewey's Friends Cafe, staffed and managed by volunteers from Friends of the Alameda Free Library, serves up coffee, tea and baked goods Monday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
