ACT, also known as Assertive Community Treatment, is a supportive program for the residents of Bay and Arenac counties in Michigan. It serves adults with chronic mental illnesses and substance abuse issues, as well as who have a history of psychiatric inpatient hospitalization. The program includes case management, supportive counseling, crisis intervention, skill building and educational solutions. In addition, the Assertive Community Treatment program is comprised of advocacy, psychiatric, nursing and medication services, as well as individual, group and family therapies. Its serves are provided at local restaurants, grocery stores and individuals homes. The program is administered by Bay Arenac Behavioral Health, which is a community mental health provider that operates various Assertive Community Treatment teams, including Connections and Transitions.
