Abundant Beginnings is a black-led community education and empowerment initiative based in Berkeley, CA. They focus on curriculum development, community education, Forest Freedom School, and summer camps, with a commitment to centering the needs of marginalized students, including Black students, gender expansive and queer students, disabled learners, and students holding trauma.
Their long-term goal is to utilize a residential Non-Profit Co-Housing Model that is part of a larger network of urban and rural land projects led by and centering the knowledge and experiences of queer people of color. Abundant Beginnings believes in nurturing children through land-based rhythms, rituals, and practices, fostering constructive engagement across difference, and providing an atmosphere of support and freedom. They aim to educate children through a black, queer, ecofeminist lens, promoting social and environmental justice and empowering them to challenge oppressive systems.
