Sanger is a city in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 24,270 at the 2010 census, up from 18,731 at the 2000 census. Sanger is located 13 miles (21 km) east-southeast of Fresno, at an elevation of 371 feet (113 m).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.5 square miles (14.3 km²), all of it land.
The first post office opened in Sanger in 1888. The city incorporated in 1911. The name commemorates Joseph Sanger Jr., secretary-treasurer of the Railroad Yardmasters Association, who visited California in 1887.
