Established in 1964, the Metropolitan Career-Technical Center is a vocational area center that provides a range of academic and extracurricular programs for students in grades 9 through 12. Its academic curriculum features courses in the fields of auto body and paint technology, commercial art, computer graphics, cosmetology, culinary arts, electronics, medical professions, metal fabrication, welding and radio broadcasting. The Metropolitan Career-Technical Center also administers programs in computer-aided drafting, printing technology, residential construction, television production, and automotive and diesel technology. Its culinary arts course includes skills training in the areas of catering, food purchasing, nutrition, preparation and preservation, and menu planning and management. The center is governed by the Little Rock School District, which enrolls more than 26,000 students in its early childhood centers and high, middle and elementary schools. The Metropolitan Career-Technical Center is located in Little Rock, Ark.
