Founded in 1970, Marion High School is a learning center that serves students in grades 10 through 12. It features more than 50 classrooms, over 15 teaching spaces, faculty lounges, workrooms and student restrooms. The school s academic curriculum includes English, science, math, Spanish, social studies, world history and physical education. It additionally provides instructive sessions related to journalism, construction technology, desktop publishing, choir, band, accounting, and family and consumer science. The school offers special education classes for students with learning disabilities. It provides opportunities for students to participate in a range of sports activities, including basketball, football, tennis, cross-country, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, golf, and track and field. The school operates a media center that offers a collection of CD players, filmstrips, microfiches, videotapes, video encyclopedias and periodicals, as well as stocks nearly 11,000 books. It supports the National Spanish Honor Society and a student council. The school conducts several parent-teacher meetings and conferences. Marion High School spreads across an area of more than 2 acres. It is a part of the Marion School District, which serves approximately 3,800 students through various elementary, middle and high schools.
