Santan Generating Station is a plant that includes several combustion and steam generation units. It is used to supplement base-load plants. The plant is a source of electricity that is capable of producing power within 60 minutes. Santan Generating Station has a capacity to produce up to 1225 megawatt of electricity. It is operated by SRP, which is one of the largest, public power utility stations in the United States. SRP supplies water to a more than 2,900-square-mile service territory in central Arizona. It provides electricity to over 934,000 retail customers in Phoenix. The company also maintains reservoirs, wells, canals and irrigation laterals.
