Indeed, he is one of a handful of Americans who have led a World Championship Grand Prix motocross event on European s, oil. In addition to competing throughout Europe, the united States, and Mexico, Serrano has won races and major championships allover Central America and South America, including Cuba. Motocross Action Magazine ( the world's biggest selling motocross pUblication ), in addition to calling him one of the most aggressive riders in the United States, has given him the title of "America's Most Widely Traveled Competitor." He has been a successful competitor in brutal motocross events and grueling, long-distance desert races and has worked as a factory development rider for major motorcycle manufacturers in both the united States and Europe. He also has been heavily involved in conducting motocross schools for riders allover the united States as well as in Mexico, Central America and South America. His record of successes in various types of motorcycle events over a substantial number of years is simply unequalled. In 1990 Carlos focused principally on major professional off-road motorcycle racing events and emerged as the Season Champion in the Over Thirty Professional Class in Casey Folk's Best In The Desert Series. The Best in the Desert Series races are recognized as the toughest and most professional of all off-road motorcycle cross-country events. Serrano blasted through the season scoring wins in three of the six races held. He received major sponsorship from Eastside Cycle and the Dunlop Tire Corporation. Serrano was crowned the 1988 250 Professional Class Season Champion in the Best in the Desert Series. Carlos competed in the 250 Professional division in spite of the fact that he was over thirty years of age and raced ( and won ) against much younger riders. He scored the highest point total of any professional class winner and also won the Las Vegas 300. Carlos also competed in the entire 1983 250 World Championship Grand Prix motocross series throughout Europe as a fully sponsored factory rider. He raced in fifteen countries and was consistently one of the top ten qualifiers in spite of riding on very difficult, hard to master race tracks. He also led the British Grand Prix becoming one of the few Americans in the history of motocross to ever lead the field in a World Championship Grand Prix in Europe. In addition to motorcycle competition, Carlos successfully made the transition to professional off-road car cing in 1986. He competed in a top-of-the-line single seat racecar for approximately three years and scored a number of victories in American Desert Racing Association ( ADRA ) professional events in both Arizona and Mexico as well as successfully competing in major SCORE events. He was blazingly fast in spite of his very short off-road car racing experience. Due to his fluency in several languages, exciting riding style, and friendly personality, Serrano generated tremendous spectator interest and was a favorite with the media whenever he competed anywhere in the world.
