Operational since 1963, Palo Verde High Magnet School serves more than 1,400 students in grades 9 through 12. Its academic programs include instruction in English, science, American history, mathematics and fine arts. The school also offers engineering, auto technology, photography, and computer-aided drafting and design courses. Palo Verde High Magnet School provides special education programs for gifted and talented students. The school organizes field trips, career fairs, and dropout prevention and computerized literacy programs. It administers an electric racing team and features computer and applied engineering and technology laboratories. Palo Verde High Magnet School is governed by the Tucson Unified School District.
