Painted Desert Oasis features one of the world's largest concentrations of petrified wood in northeastern Arizona. It features more than 200-million-year-old fossils. The facility is a part of Petrified Forest National Park, which offers various recreational activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, backpacking, photography, and wildlife and bird watching. Petrified Forest National Park provides online reservation services. The park explores over 200,000 items in the museum collection. It has archeological objects from Anasazi, Mogollon and Sinagua sites, as well as ethnological objects related to Hopi and Navajo cultures. Petrified Forest National Park is spread across an area of nearly 50,000 acres.
