History
Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona is a non-profit organization building hope and healing children's trauma through artistic expression. Free Arts programs include creative elements that promote safety, self-expression, resilience, and a sense of belonging. All Free Arts programs, delivered by volunteers and artists, interact with more than 7,000 children annually through partnerships with 42 social service child welfare agencies at 100+ sites across Maricopa County. We Believe: Art Heals - The creative arts transform and inspire lives. Every Child Matters - All children have the right to be cared for and respected. Mentoring Works - Mentoring builds resilience by helping children identify their strengths and increase their confidence.
Specialties
We specialize in building hope and healing children's trauma. We accomplish this by recruiting and training volunteers our formula: Art + People = Healing. You (the people/ caring adults), plus us, (we create partnerships with community partners serving children, cultural agencies, and contract local, professional artists) will create relationships that model healthy coping skills and resilience in the children we serve. Come join us as a volunteer in one of our programs and show the community how you too can specialize in healing children. Programs include Weekly Mentor Program, Free Art Days, Profesional Artist Series, and Camp Series.
