Arizona Department of Agriculture, located in Phoenix, is a cabinet-level statewide agency that regulates and supports Arizona s agriculture industry. It employs more than 320 personnel and supports farming, ranching and agribusinesses. The agency consists of various divisions, such as animal, environmental and plant services. The department operates a state licensed agricultural laboratory, and the Citrus, Fruit and Vegetable Standardization and Fresh Produce Grade Inspection program. It also offers the Agricultural Consultation and Training program. It provides assistance to members of the agricultural community in complying with state and federal regulations, including worker protection safety and training requirements, animal waste and water management regulations and nutrient management planning. The agency s animal services division protects and improves the health, quality and marketability of Arizona s animals and animal products. It also protects consumers from contagious diseases and enforces laws concerning the movement, sale, importation, transportation and processing of livestock. Additionally, the agency conducts food quality and safety inspections of milk and meat products and performs feed, fertilizer, pesticide and seed-label inspections.
