History
Nine Star was at first a broad-based training institution, then in 1978 it became a non-profit when it split from the Alaska Commission on Post-Secondary Education following a decision by the Alaska Attorney General that its services would be better left to the private sector. Nine Star Education & Employment Services is chartered by the State of Alaska and operates as a non-profit 501(c)3. It offers a wide array of educational and training programs as well as organizational development and technical services locally and statewide. Its educational and training programs are specially designed to prepare clients for success in the workplace. Adult education classes, computer instruction, and work readiness workshops are some of Nine Star's primary programs. Nine Star offers clients and students knowledge and support to assist them in reaching their program goals. Nine Star has now grown to include over nine sites throughout Anchorage and also in Wasilla.
