Formed in 1969, the Kenai Police Department works to preserve peace and deter crime through the enforcement of local, state and federal laws. It maintains a communication and dispatch center that responds to various emergency and nonemergency calls. The department hosts Crime Stoppers, Explorer Post, and neighborhood and business watch programs. The Kenai Police Department supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program, which teaches students to avoid peer pressure temptations and drugs. The department provides various employment opportunities to citizens and offers the copies of police reports. The Kenai Police Department also maintains a sex offender registry. It is located in Kenai, Alaska.
