The Federal Highway Administration is a part of the Department of Transportation. The agency has field offices throughout the United States and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It provides financial and technical support to state, local and tribal governments for the construction, improvement and preservation of the nation's highway system. The Federal Highway Administration administers the Federal Lands Highway Program, which offers funding for public roads and highways within federally owned lands and tribal lands that are not owned by state and local governments. The agency is also responsible for formulating national program policy and content. In addition, the Federal Highway Administration work in collaboration with other governmental agencies and industrial and research community partners for the development, testing and implementation of latest technological systems.
