Founded in 1958, Copper Valley Electric Association, also known as CVEA, is a member-owned cooperative that serves customers in Alaska. It generates, transmits and distributes electrical energy. The cooperative has a staff of more than 35 individuals. It offers a single, joint and corporate membership plans. The cooperative also provides cost estimation, equipment maintenance, customer care and row clearing solutions. Copper Valley Electric Association operates a video lending library, as well as offers gift certificates for science fair projects to students. The cooperative conducts various electrical safety programs for schools and community groups. In addition, it provides line extension and construction services. Copper Valley Electric Association owns and operates the Glennallen Diesel Plant, Cogeneration Plant and Valdez Diesel Plant.
