HistoryIn 2004 the people of the Perdido Bay United Methodist Church decided to reach out to the community with a Community Center. This would be a place to offer the local community an opportunity to grow together in a wide variety of activities, both public and private; a beacon of hope where good things happen. With private donations of the church's members and friends, and a good size mortgage, the doors were opened in the spring of 2004. After Hurricane Ivan, just 4 months later, it became a rescue station, dispensing free dinners, staples, and clothing. Operating funds come from user fees and donations by church members and friends. The Perdido Bay Community Center receives no county or state funding.SpecialtiesThe Perdido Bay Community Center opened in 2004 as an outreach mission of the Perdido Bay United Methodist Church. 4 months after its grand opening, Hurricane Ivan hit, sculpting the vision of the Community Center into what it is today: an outreach post, a rescue station, a place of friendship, fellowship, peace, and support. To this day, it continues to be the center hub for community events, classes, and activities, for the surrounding area. From Pilates to Karate, Bible Studies to Business Meetings, and Grumpsters to Kiwanis, this center strives to meet the needs of the community by providing an activity for everyone.
