Founded in 1962, Mobile Medical Museum comprises a collection of artifacts and documents used in the medicine industry. Based in Mobile, Ala., the museum houses permanent exhibits, such as artifacts used in the historical Medical College of Alabama, bleeding bowl, scarficator and medical instruments. It also showcases a collection of rare medical books, roots, herbs and medicinal remedies used in the late 19th and 20th centuries. The museum houses archives that contain manuscripts in the form of books, document formats, letters, diaries, notebooks, government records, medical textbooks, scrapbooks, photographs and prescriptions. Mobile Medical Museum is listed on the Historic American Building Survey of the National Parks and National Register of Historic Places.
