Alabama Council on Human Relations Head Start Program was established in 1965. Located in Auburn, Ala., it is one of the child development programs operated by the Alabama Council on Human Relations, an agency providing services and advocacy to children and families in need. The program includes educational, health, parental involvement and social services designed to prepare children of ages 3 through 5 for entry into public schools. Alabama Council on Human Relations Head Start Program serves more than 400 children at the Boykin Community Center in Auburn and Darden Center in Opelika in Alabama. It also serves children at the Marian Wright Edelman Center in rural Russell County in Alabama.
