Founded in 1920, the League of Women Voters operates as a nonpartisan political organization. Located in Birmingham, Ala. it has presence in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Hong Kong, in addition to numerous local Leagues throughout the United States. Its works on several issues in the areas of money in elections, voting rights, voter registration, election administration, global climate change and health care defense. The League of Women Voters has worked on several projects, such as the global democracy program and high school registration project.
