Founded in 1918, Katherine H. Hankins Middle School, formerly known as Theodore School, is a learning center that provides academic instruction to more than 1,200 students in grades six through eight. With more than 70 people, it specializes in the fulfillment of the academic, social and physical needs of students. The school organizes football, basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball activities. It conducts classes in biology, chemistry, physics, language arts and geography. Katherine H. Hankins Middle School has a library media center that stocks more than 14,000 books and over 20 periodical subscriptions. It publishes The Paw Print Press newsletter. The school also offers memberships for the National Junior Honor Society, as well as operates a student council. It additionally has a parent-teacher association.
