Please feel free to contact Church Office 256-249-0362 with any questions! First Church was organized as a Methodist Episcopal Church, Congregation in 1832. There have been four church buildings, the last two located on Spring Street. The current building was erected in three stages. The Fellowship Hall was completed in 1952, the Sanctuary in 1957, and the Education Building in the early 1960's. The vision of ministry which inspired this building was called "a seven day a week church." Outstanding church leaders have come from FUMC. The hallway outside the archive room is lined with pictures of those who have answered the called, were educated, and ordained for ministry in the United Methodist Church. They include pastors, missionaries, professors of religion, and current students.
