Established in 1981, the Family Sunshine Center is a social service agency that provides support services and programs to victims of family violence. It is a part of the Montgomery Area Family Violence Program. The center serves victims of several kinds of family violence, including spouse, child, sibling and elder abuse. Its shelter program provides food, clothing, counseling and medical services to victims. The various counseling services provided by the center include crisis intervention, individual and group counseling and advocacy services. Its End Violence Effectively Now program teaches violence prevention through communication, alternative actions and reactions, acceptance of anger and a new self-image. It also offers various awareness and prevention education programs to family violence victims and their families. It serves Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery counties in Alabama. The center is located in Montgomery, Ala.
