Founded over 150 years ago, Bradleys Birmingham office retains the tradition of Southern hospitality even as the firm has grown into a global legal force. Bradleys first and largest office was founded in 1870 in Elyton, Alabama, before eventually moving to the newly established city of Birmingham in 1871. Home to a number of legal trailblazers, the firms ranks have included founding partner John P. Tillman, who served as the first president of the Birmingham Bar Association in 1885 and as president of the Alabama Bar Association from 1897 to 1898, and Ellene Winn, who in 1958 became one of the first female partners in a major law firm in the Southeast. The Birmingham office currently supports more than 100 charitable organizations across central Alabama. In 2022, the office launched the Black Small Business and Nonprofit Community Clinic, a joint project of Bradley and Legal Services Alabama (LSA), to provide accessible and affordable business-oriented legal services to local Black small businesses and nonprofits across the Magic City.
