The Alexander City Light Department is operated by the government of Alexander City in Alabama. Covering 26 square miles of actual lines, the department services about 667 rental light accounts, maintains its own street lights and handles new construction. Catering to over 7000 customers, the Alexander City Light Department is on call round the clock during power outages and emergencies. It offers a set of online tools and resources named Energy Depot for managing home energy use and costs. A member of AMEA (Alabama Municipal Electric Authority), the department is also a Public Power Community helping schools, churches and various community activities.
