The Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (AFJROTC) and the Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) are leadership development programs offered at several high schools in Baldwin County, Alabama. These programs aim to build citizens of character who are dedicated to serving their nation and community, promoting teamwork, and teaching life skills. JROTC is a progressive educational and training program that spans all four years of high school, allowing cadets to learn how to follow and then lead. Through community service, discipline, and responsibility, JROTC activities help students develop their potential for leadership, personal growth, and career success.
Offered at Baldwin County High School, Daphne High School, Foley High School, Robertsdale High School, Elberta High School, and Spanish Fort High School (students may participate in Daphne High School's JROTC program), the JROTC programs provide a combination of regular classes, extra-curricular activities, and team competitions. Cadets are assessed not only on their academic performance but also on their service, participation, and conduct. By participating in JROTC for three years, students may earn a JROTC Career Ready Indicator required for graduation, fulfilling the Career Preparedness Course and/or Life Skills PE.
