Pittsburgh

Join Matt Fisher as he explores the best of The ‘Burgh with 8 hours until the Pirates game and $100 in his pocket. Welcome to Key to the City: Pittsburgh!

Key to the City is about exploring the best baseball cities in the country in excitement for what the future of the season holds. But before you see how the Pittsburgh Pirates’ season unfolds, first you need to explore the rich history of their home city at the Heinz History Center. From the set of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, to an entire baseball exhibit, this place has it all.

After walking through history, take a break and relax as you ascend Mount Washington in a spacious Duquesne Incline train car. Think the ride up is cool? Just wait until you get to the top where you can see the entire city including its iconic bridges, the flowing river and, most importantly, PNC Park.

Why, just look at the river when you can jump in? The water is a little cold, but thanks to Venture Outdoors Kayaking you can stay dry, see famous spots in Pittsburgh, and even get a little exercise!

We guarantee paddling around Pittsburgh will work up an appetite and there’s no better place to grab some grub than at Primanti Brothers. This sandwich shop has been around for over 80 years and after one bite of their famous Pitts-burger you’ll see why they’ve withstood the test of time. This beef patty topped with cheese, french fries, cole slaw, and tomatoes all packed together between two thick pieces of Pennsylvania bread is a serious sandwich you do not want to miss.

And last, but certainly not least, baseball fans can’t resist grabbing a cold one at Jerome Bettis Grill 36. Just 1/3 of a mile away from PNC Park, this bar on the water is the perfect place for drinks and snacks with friends before the game!
