Dye-sublimation printing now in-house at Minuteman Press Redditch! Sounds a bit technical but what it means is that we have invested in some swanky new kit so we can print on t-shirts and other clothing such as hoodies, aprons and baby grows, plus a host of other items including mugs, coasters, shopping bags, mouse mats, key rings, fridge magnets, cushion covers, jigsaws, bottle openers…and more! We’ve offered branded promotional items since we opened our doors in 2015 but now we are doing it in-house we can offer keener prices, faster turnarounds and no minimum quantities. There are a number of different methods to print on ‘stuff’ other than paper : screen printing, vinyl transfers, direct to garment and dye-sublimation being the main contenders. So what’s special about dye-sub?Ok here’s the techy bit if you’re interested…Dye-sublimation works by penetrating the surface of the substrate with ink. Man-made materials such as nylon, certain plastics, and polyester fabrics contain polymers that when heated, enable the bonding of ink. As a result dye-sublimation printing produces beautiful and permanent colours that are embedded in the substrate or fabric, rather than printed on the surface. So images on fabric won’t fade or crack even after multiple washings. And images on hard substrates will not chip, peel or scratch. Don’t be put off by polyester by the way. On traditional t-shirts we challenge you to tell the difference between polyester and cotton. And for training t-shirts polyester is ideal because unlike cotton that traps moisture and can become heavy, soggy and clingy, our polyester performance shirts pull perspiration away from the skin to the surface of the shirt, where it evaporates rapidly. They work great in hot weather, but they're also comfortable when it’s cooler as they don’t get damp and chilly like cotton shirts can.In other news, we are as busy as ever with our digital and large format printing and are gaining an enviable reputation for our super fast turnaround times, competitive pricing, top quality and, though we say it ourselves, second to none customer service. But don’t take our word for it.
