Acknowledged as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World for being the tallest freestanding structure on the planet (until 2010), the CN Tower is Toronto's prime attraction and main icon. Look out over Canada's largest city and Lake Ontario, one of the five Great Lakes, enjoy fine dining in the revolving restaurant or get the adrenalin pumping with a harnessed-in walk along the edge of the observation deck.
How to get to CN Tower
Located right downtown, the CN Tower is easily accessible by public transit and car. The city's main train and subway station, Union Station, is just a short walk away, making travel by subway, train or bus super convenient. There's ample parking nearby, which makes driving to the attraction an alright alternative as long as avoiding times of high traffic.
Best and worst time to go to CN Tower
Plan a visit for a clear day since visibility can be up to 160 km (100 miles). Arrive in the morning or evening to avoid lineups. An evening visit offers both the chance to see the sunset and the nighttime view of the city.
Admission to CN Tower
Admission prices range from $24 to $32 for those wanting to go to the LookOut Level (1,136 ft / 342 m). Add $12 to take a separate elevator to the SkyPod (1,465 ft / 447m), an extra 33 stories up. Buy the CityPASS to get a major discount off admission price to the CN Tower and Toronto's four other top attractions.
Must see/do at CN Tower
Besides taking in the view, visitors can experience looking straight down 1,122 ft (342m) while standing atop the Glass Floor. Visitors seeking to test themselves can take an EdgeWalk, the world's highest full circle hands-free walk, where they can stroll harnessed in around the ledge of the tower's main pod. Those wanting a fine dining experience with a view can eat at the revolving restaurant.
Other places to visit near CN Tower
CN Tower is located right downtown in the Entertainment District. Two of the city's main stadiums, Rogers Centre and Air Canada Centre, are within a short walk, offering regular opportunities to watch hockey, baseball, basketball and other sports and music events. This area is also awash in theatres, bars, night clubs, shops and restaurants, leaving no shortage of things to do.
Insider tip for visitors to CN Tower
Dine at the 360 Restaurant to avoid paying an admission fee. Following your meal, access to the LookOut Level and Glass Floor is free for each guest who purchases a main course or prix fixe.
